This is an independent, unofficial reference for Quake Champions in its final 1.31 build. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by id Software, Bethesda Softworks or ZeniMax Media, and it is written and maintained by an editorial team rather than by the game's developers or publisher.
What this site covers
The guide documents the game as it stands after the 1.31 Point Release of 23 September 2026, when Quake Champions moved from a free-to-play service to a paid application on Steam. It covers:
- The Steam purchase — price, platform, migration for existing owners and refund rules.
- Whether it is worth buying in 2026 — the value question, argued from the content counts rather than from opinion.
- Update status — what the final patch changed and why the content pipeline has ended.
- The roster, the weapons, the maps, item timers and cosmetics — the game's data surface.
- Release dates, the SteamDB app record, player counts, bots, settings, download size and the community.
It deliberately does not cover redeem codes (the game has none), tier lists (no reliable comparative data exists), other games in the Quake series, or content that is not published by a first party.
How facts are graded
Every figure on this site is stamped with a source level and the date it was checked. The levels mean something specific:
| Level | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| A | First-party and machine-readable: a publisher or platform endpoint, announcement or policy page | Steam store API, Steam News 1.31 announcement, Bethesda's 1.31 FAQ |
| B | Reputable third-party aggregation or tracker | SteamDB, SteamCharts |
| C | Community-compiled, uncorroborated by a first party | Community wikis, community performance reports |
Where a level A source and a level C source disagree, both are shown with their levels rather than one being silently preferred. Where no source exists at all, the value is marked unverified instead of being estimated. A worked example is the weapon count, where two community sources count the same set differently and this site prints both.
How dates are used
- Time-sensitive values carry an explicit as of date. Prices, player counts and the current version number are examples; structural facts such as the developer name are not given dates, because dating a static fact would suggest it changes.
- Pages carry a check date, so you can tell how stale a reading is before you rely on it.
- When a value changes for a documented reason — a price change, a final patch, a store retirement — the change and its date are stated rather than the old value being quietly overwritten.
Corrections
If a figure here is wrong, or if you have a first-party source that supersedes one of ours, we want to hear about it. Useful reports include:
- The page URL and the exact figure or sentence at issue.
- What is wrong — a wrong number, an outdated status, a broken link, or a fact that changed after our check date.
- A citable source — ideally a first-party page, an API endpoint or an official announcement, with a date.
Reports without a source are still welcome, but they take longer to act on because every change on this site has to be sourced before it ships. The submission channels are on the contact page.
