Item timing wins Quake Champions fights more reliably than aim does, so the numbers matter. This page separates two different things that are easy to confuse:
- Respawn time — how long after a pickup the item returns to its spawn point. Published by community sources, last updated 19 March 2024, before the final patch.
- Ground lifetime — how long a dropped item stays on the floor. Unified to 20 seconds by the 1.31 Point Release, which is the current authoritative value.
Verified 24 September 2026. Where the two eras overlap, the 1.31 figure wins.
Ground lifetime after 1.31 (current, official)
Bethesda's 1.31 announcement states, verbatim: “Unified how long weapons, armor shards, Stroyent, Blood Punch health, souls, and flags remain on the ground to 20 seconds.”
| Item dropped | Ground lifetime after 1.31 | Source (level) |
|---|---|---|
| Weapons | 20 seconds | 1.31 announcement (A) |
| Armor shards | 20 seconds | 1.31 announcement (A) |
| Stroyent | 20 seconds | 1.31 announcement (A) |
| Blood Punch health | 20 seconds | 1.31 announcement (A) |
| Souls | 20 seconds | 1.31 announcement (A) |
| Flags | 20 seconds | 1.31 announcement (A) |
The same patch notes add that dropped items blink in the last moments before they expire, which turns the timer into a visual cue as well as a number. Anything you read about these items disappearing after a different interval is describing the build before 23 September 2026.
Respawn times (community values, pre-1.31)
These are the respawn intervals published by Church of Quake, whose item table carries a last-updated date of 19 March 2024 — roughly two and a half years before the final patch. Treat them as source level C and as pre-1.31 values. Nothing in the 1.31 notes re-states the respawn intervals themselves, so they are neither confirmed nor contradicted by first-party material.
| Item | Value on pickup | Respawn time | Source (level) |

| Ammo Box | Ammo | 20 s | Church of Quake, updated 2024-03-19 (C) |
| Quad Damage | Power-up, 30 s duration | 120 s, first spawn 90 s after match start | Church of Quake, updated 2024-03-19 (C) |
| Protection | Power-up, 30 s duration | 120 s, first spawn 90 s after match start | Church of Quake, updated 2024-03-19 (C) |

Reading the table correctly
- Mega Health and Heavy Armor are not simple +100s. Both push your total above the normal maximum, which is why they matter more than their raw number suggests. Your class cap still exists as a base; see the characters page for the caps.
- The power-ups are on a long clock. A 120-second respawn with a 90-second first spawn means the opening fight for Quad or Protection is on a hard timer, and controlling it decides whole matches.
- Armor Shards are cheap and frequent. A 10 AP pickup on a 15-second cycle makes them a resource you farm rather than a prize you contest.
- Hourglass is the one row we will not gloss. The 2024 table lists a 30-second respawn, but the 1.31 notes do not restate its effect, so this page marks the effect unverified rather than describing it from memory.
Why some values cannot be confirmed
id Software has never published a numeric item table for Quake Champions. The figures above come from a community wiki that predates the final patch, and the 1.31 announcement only sets the ground-lifetime rule. Two further gaps are worth stating plainly:
- A community post that appeared to document respawn timing was fetched during research and returned a bot-check page rather than content, so it could not be used as a source. It is excluded here rather than partially quoted.
- Per-map item layouts are not published by the developers and no source we could reach documents them reliably, so this page gives shared timers only and does not pretend to know where each item sits on each map.
Anything not covered above is marked unverified rather than filled in with an estimate. For the map pool itself, see the maps page; for how to use these timers in play, the gameplay page.
