The 1.31 Point Release changed cosmetics more than any other part of the game. Content that used to be earned over seasons or bought piece by piece is now part of the single purchase — except for a small set of third-party items that are locked to accounts that already owned them. Verified 24 September 2026.
What is included now
Bethesda's 1.31 announcement says that in the new paid build, “all Champions are now unlocked for everyone, and most vanity content is available to equip.” The store listing puts numbers on that catalogue:
| Category | Count | Source (level) |
|---|---|---|
| Champion outfits | 97 | Steam store API (A) |
| Champion vanities | 201 | Steam store API (A) |
| Weapon vanities | 107 | Steam store API (A) |
| Profile icons | 491 | Steam store API (A) |
| Nameplates | 139 | Steam store API (A) |
| Podiums | 12 | Steam store API (A) |
Note “most” in the announcement rather than “all”. The exception is explained in the next section.
The items that stay locked
The 1.31 announcement lists third-party entitlements by name, and states they “are hidden from the Customization list unless you already own them”:
| Item | What it is | Can a new player obtain it? |
|---|---|---|
| AMD Ruby Nyx | An outfit for the Champion Nyx, tied to an AMD promotion | No |
| Twitch Rocket Launcher | A weapon vanity from a Twitch promotion | No |
| Nvidia Pulsar Railgun | A weapon vanity from an Nvidia promotion | No |
| QuakeCon Belts | Merit-based reward from QuakeCon events | No |
| Golden Crowns | Merit-based reward | No |
These are all retired: they existed, they are still equippable by accounts that own them, and there is no route left to acquire them. The site's absence classification for these items is RETIRED, not REMOVED (which would mean they were taken away from owners) and not NEVER (which would mean they never existed).
The design reason is contractual: these items were created under third-party promotional agreements, so republishing them to everyone is not something a patch can simply decide. The community's read on the Ruby Nyx removal in particular was “likely a contractual issue”.
Ruby Nyx
Ruby Nyx is a skin, not a Champion. It is an AMD-exclusive outfit for Nyx, who is one of the four Light-class Champions. If you have seen “Quake Champions Ruby” described as a character anywhere, that description is wrong, and this site does not list Ruby in the Champion roster for that reason.
Can you still get it? No.
- As of the 1.31 update on 23 September 2026, accounts that did not already own the Ruby Nyx outfit can no longer see it in the Customization menu at all. A player report from the day of the update put it plainly: the skin can no longer even be previewed unless it was already unlocked on the account.
- Community discussion the same day concluded that Ruby Nyx and the Nvidia Pulsar Railgun are both permanently unavailable to new accounts.
- Because it is a third-party entitlement, no in-game currency or purchase can recover it. There is no workaround, code, or store listing that restores access.
What happened to it, and why: the outfit was tied to an AMD hardware promotion rather than to the game's own catalogue. When 1.31 removed the store and the currencies from Quake Champions, it also stopped exposing entitlements that were never part of the game's own inventory. The item was not deleted — owners still have it — it was hidden from everyone else. This is why the change reads as a licensing decision rather than a balance or content decision.
How equipping works in the final build
- No store, no currency. The 1.31 announcement lists the in-game store and the Platinum and Shard currencies among the things removed, so cosmetics are equipped from the existing catalogue rather than bought.
- No rotation. There are no seasons or Battle Pass-style timed unlocks left, so an outfit you can equip today will not expire.
- Champion-specific outfits. Outfit counts are per Champion, so 97 outfits spread across 16 Champions; you will not see 97 options on one character.
- Weapon vanities are cosmetic variants of the eight weapons, not new weapons. See the weapons page.
How this page treats cosmetics
- No shop guides or “best skin” lists. There is no store to guide and no pricing to compare, and ranking cosmetics would add nothing verifiable.
- No claim about unreleased content. With no further updates planned, the catalogue is fixed at the counts above.
- No guess at what the outfits look like. This page documents availability, not appearance, because appearance claims need assets this site does not have.
For the Champions these outfits go on, see the character roster; for the patch that made these changes, the update page.
