Quake Champions ships with a fixed arena weapon set — you pick weapons up on the map rather than choosing a loadout. How many weapons that set contains depends on which source you ask, and the two published counts genuinely disagree. Both are shown below rather than one being quietly chosen. Verified 24 September 2026.
The eight named weapons
The Quake Champions Wiki states, verbatim: “There are a total of 8 different weapons”, and names them:
| # | Weapon | Role in the set | Source (level) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Gauntlet | Melee, the default close-range tool | Fandom QC Wiki (C) |
| 2 | Heavy Machinegun | Rapid-fire hitscan | Fandom QC Wiki (C) |
| 3 | Super Shotgun | High-damage close range | Fandom QC Wiki (C) |
| 4 | Super Nailgun | Projectile, heavy close-to-mid pressure | Fandom QC Wiki (C) |
| 5 | Rocket Launcher | Splash damage and rocket jumping | Fandom QC Wiki (C) |
| 6 | Lightning Gun | Sustained hitscan, strong in a straight fight | Fandom QC Wiki (C) |
| 7 | Railgun | Single-shot hitscan, long range | Fandom QC Wiki (C) |
| 8 | Tribolt | Multi-projectile, area denial | Fandom QC Wiki (C) |
Why another source says eleven
Church of Quake's category listings count the weapon family differently: it lists the Machinegun, Shotgun and Nailgun alongside their heavy variants as separate entries, which produces eleven weapon entries instead of eight.
| Source | Count | How it counts |
|---|---|---|
| Quake Champions Wiki (Fandom) | 8 | Base weapons only; the heavy variant of a weapon is not a separate item |
| Church of Quake | 11 entries | Base and heavy variants counted separately, plus vanity weapon entries |
Both are defensible descriptions of the same game, and this page does not pick one as correct. The disagreement is a counting convention, not a factual conflict about what exists in the game. If you are comparing this page to another site, check which convention that site uses before assuming a number is wrong.
Damage and ammo values: not published
id Software has not released a numeric weapon table for Quake Champions — no damage-per-shot, fire rate or ammo-cap figures exist in first-party material we could reach. This is a stated gap in the project's source research, not an oversight here.
Consequently this page:
- does not print damage numbers, because any figure would come from reverse engineering or from a community estimate that cannot be checked against an official value;
- does not print ammo capacities for the same reason;
- does not rank the weapons, because a ranking without numbers is an opinion dressed as data.
The one weapon behaviour that is documented first-party is a Ranger ability change — not a weapon — covered on the update page. For what each weapon is for in practice, read the role column above and the mechanics section of the gameplay page.
Practical notes for the final build
- The set is frozen. 1.31 was the last patch, so this weapon list will not change; you are learning a fixed set rather than tracking balance patches.
- Weapon accuracy is now visible. 1.31 added a weapon accuracy UI, so you can see which of the eight you actually land shots with instead of guessing.
- Weapon pickups obey the new ground rule. Dropped weapons remain on the ground for 20 seconds after 1.31, up from whatever the previous per-item value was. See item respawn times.
- Weapon vanities exist for 107 items according to the store listing, which are cosmetic variants of this set rather than additional weapons. See the skins page.
What this page deliberately omits
- No per-weapon pages. None of the eight names is a keyword this site targets, and without published values each page would be an empty shell.
- No damage tables sourced from video tests. A frame-counted estimate is not the same as a verified value, and labelling one as the other is exactly the kind of claim this site avoids.
- No tier ranking. The population is too small and the source situation too thin for a ranking that would survive scrutiny.
For the equipment you combine with these weapons, see characters and item timers; for where the fights happen, the maps page.
